Lower Division Classes
Students enter the Lower Division at age 7 to begin their study of classical ballet technique in Ballet 1. All levels of the Lower Division are instructed in the components of the Vaganova syllabus with strict attention to correct body placement.
Ballet 1
Classical ballet terminology and basic exercises are introduced at the barre and in the center. Emphasis is on the positioning of the feet and arms, carriage of the body and an introduction to basic stretching. It is a must for all beginners regardless of age. No ballet experience necessary.
Ballet 2
Students begin to develop a more extensive ballet vocabulary and combinations are introduced. The elements of classical technique, as well as balance, flexibility, strength, and turnout receive attention as the student advances.
Ballet 3
At this level, technical strength, balance and flexibility continue to be emphasized. Students are challenged to with more complex movement patterns while still trying to master basic jumping, turning, and waltz steps.
Ballet 4
Basic strength, flexibility and turnout are emphasized while young women begin preparation for pointe work and the young men prepare for turning in the air.
Pinky Program
A small select group from the Lower Division, this group of students will train intensively five times per week under the direction of select faculty members.
